We demonstrate a record bidirectional WDM transmission throughput of 336.9 Tb/s GMI (66.5% higher than previous SCL-band unidirectional transmission) over 39 km of field-deployed fiber using 33.23 THz O/S+C+L-band signals, doped fiber amplifiers and 20 dBm total optical power.
We measure the power efficiency of state-of-the-art OESCL-band amplifiers (EDFAs, BDFAs and TDFAs). Using the integral GN model, we explore the most effective means of bandwidth scaling fiber-scarce links from a capacity and energy-per-bit perspective.
The presentation highlights recent advances in bismuth-doped fiber amplifier technology and its growing role in multi-band optical communications and emerging silicon photonics system architectures.
We experimentally validate an O-band closed-form Gaussian Noise model with wavelength-dependent parameters over single-span 50.3 and 75.5 km, 16.5 THz transmission, achieving a mean SNR prediction error below 0.27 dB.
We demonstrate a record 154 Tb/s O-band transmission over 50.3 km of fiber. The optimized transceiver enables GS-256QAM and dense WDM operation with low complexity DSP, leveraging the minimal chromatic dispersion characteristic of the O-band region.
We demonstrate the ultralow nonlinearity of HCF for high-speed THz data transport and stable LO distribution, successfully delivering 100-Gb/s data and stable LO signal in the 300-GHz band at launch powers up to 29 dBm over a 3.9-km PBG-HCF link.
We report BiEr-DFA for seamless amplification of the S+C-bands with >20 dB small signal gain and <6 dB corresponding NF over 9 THz bandwidth (1490-1560 nm). Amplifier has 23 dBm output power and 20% PCE.
Experiments reveal strong pump-to-signal RIN transfer in forward-pumped bismuth-doped fibre amplifiers driven by ytterbium lasers. Although forward pumping shows lower apparent noise figure, the resulting RIN transfer lowers the received SNR compared with backward pumping.
