Lightera Showcases Breakthrough Optical Amplification, Multi-Band Transmission, and Advanced Fiber Innovations at OFC 2026

LOS ANGELES, OFC, Booth 829 — March 12, 2026 – Lightera will present a broad portfolio of technical papers, invited contributions, panels, and technology showcases at OFC 2026, demonstrating major advances in optical amplification, expanded spectral band transmission, ultra-wideband networking, and advanced fiber platforms. These contributions highlight new approaches to increasing optical network capacity, improving amplifier performance, and enabling next-generation infrastructure for AI, data centers, broadband, sensing, and fiber-wireless convergence.

OFC attendees are invited to visit Lightera at Booth 829 in the South Hall to meet technical experts and review new research and solution platforms extending performance beyond traditional C-band optical system limits.

A central focus of Lightera’s OFC contributions is next-generation optical amplification using new materials and hybrid amplifier architectures.

Featured technical papers include:

  • Relative Intensity Noise Transfer in O-Band Bismuth-Doped Fiber Amplifiers — Daniel J. Elson, Aleksandr Donodin, Vitaly Mikhailov, Jiawei Luo, Shigehiro Takasaka, Noboru Yoshikane, Takehiro Tsuritani, and Yuta Wakayama
  • Hybrid BiEr Fiber Amplifier for Seamless S- and C-Band WDM Amplification — Vitaly Mikhailov, Jiawei Luo, Aaleksandr Donodin, Yuriy Dulashko, Gabriel Puc, Brian J. Mangan, Robert S. Windeler, Paul S. Westbrook, Jeffrey W. Nicholson, Sergei K. Turitsyn, and David J. DiGiovanni

These amplifier advances support practical multi-band amplification strategies required for ultra-wideband optical networks.

Invited Talk:

  • What’s Next for Doped-Fiber Amplifiers? New Materials, Spectral Bands, and Applications — First author: Alexandr Donodin (Aston Institute of Photonics Technologies, Aston, UK); contributing authors from Lightera include Vitaly Mikhailov, Jiawei Luo, and David DiGiovanni. The presentation highlights recent advances in bismuth-doped fiber amplifier technology and its growing role in multi-band optical communications and emerging silicon photonics system architectures.

Lightera presenters and contributors are also participating in multiple record-class and high-capacity transmission demonstrations, including:
